Rocgolf began in Melb ourne in 1997 by Mike Roberts. Mike has been a Professional Golfer and a member of the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) since 1972. In 1997, after a long career of teaching golf, Mike designed and manufactured his own brand of clubs under the name of Rocgolf. It was a natural progresson for him because in a former incarnation he was an artist (and still is). He says that art and golf complement each other very well. Mike is pleased with the final results of the 3 models of irons, woods and ancillary items that he has designed.
In 1984 Mike wrote a teaching technique designed for new golfers. He taught at Elsternwick Park Public Golf Course for17 years which is a small 9 hole golf course in Melbourne. Mike now teaches in Holland where he still teaches the same technique today which he has called the 'Rocsolid Golf Technique' - he has found no need to change it. In fact he says that the fundamentals of golf belong to the new and experienced player alike but it is the very good players who demonstrate the fundamentals the best. (Mike has since returned to Melbourne, Australia [2008] where he is writing his book: 'Golf through the eyes of Metaphysics.') Mike's simple philosophy about teaching golf is based on the fact that 'Knowledge makes the Player.' A good technique that is supported by a sound philosophy will motivate golfers to make those changes necessary to create better golf swings. Golfers can then go forward and play to a standard they desire for themselves. Playing better golf comes from what you know and your ability to apply that knowledge. |
